Speakers:

Ben Furner, Agency Director, Furner Communications
Ben will be looking at how to involve vulnerable spokespeople in communications, including an examination of some of the ethical, legal, and protection issues. He will focus on his work at the Shift Speakers' Bureau, a one-stop-shop for journalists wanting to hear the extraordinary, real-life stories of people with mental health problems. Ben will be joined by a member of the Speakers' Bureau who will talk about their own experience of being a media case study.

Chris Jameson, Inside Edge
What makes a good interviewee?

When journalists Chris Jameson and Tony Prideaux set up Inside Edge Media Training, they also set up a pool of working journalists. They asked - and continue to ask - those journalists a series of questions  about their work. One of the key questions is  "What makes a good interviewee?" and the findings are revealed in this lively and interactive session.

Debbie Attewell, Editor, Candis Magazine.
Debbie will be talking about how editors select a case history and exploring some of the reasons behind what makes one case study more acceptable to a publication than another. If you’ve ever wanted to understand the thinking behind a case study request with ‘annoying’ specific requirements, then all will be revealed. Having worked as both a features writer, features editor and editor across national publications including Company, 19, Essentials, Family Circle, Pick Me Up and Daily Express, Debbie can talk with honesty and humour about this important issue from a variety of perspectives.
